16 Dec 01 - 16 Dec. - 5 Central Fraser Valley SAR, 13 Surrey SAR responded to an RCMP request, to locate a male reported missing since 6 Dec 01. Search turned up nothing and has been closed. RCMP may request another search pending further investigation.

15 Dec. 01 - Central Fraser Valley, Ridge Meadows and Surrey SAR responded to Derby Reach Provincial Park in Langley following report of a missing, female. Her unoccupied vehicle was located. Search is ongoing at this time.

6 Dec. 01 - 12 Surrey SAR members responded at first light 07 Dec to search the Fraser River near the Port Mann Bridge for a 19-year-old male missing after his abandoned vehicle was located on the bridge. Extensive searches in and around the Port Mann Bridge, Brownsville boat launch and Sky Train bridge areas failed to locate any trace of the missing man. Search was stood down. RCMP continues to investigate.

5 Nov. 01 - 14 Surrey SAR and 5 Coquitlam SAR responded to RCMP request to search for a male last seen on the Port Mann Bridge. RCMP stood SAR team down after water and shoreline search was unsuccessful.

31 Oct. 01 - 20 Central Fraser Valley and Surrey SAR responded to a missing male. Abbotsford Police has stood down the search, the subject is believed to no longer be in the area.

27 Oct. 01 - 46 Surrey, Central Fraser Valley, Lions Bay, Coquitlam and Ridge Meadows SAR members responded to RCMP call out to a missing 86 year old female Alzheimer's patient. She had gone to supper with son and walked away. The female was located slightly hypothermic and taken to hospital.

28 Oct. 01 - 12 Central Fraser Valley and 16 Surrey SAR members responded to search for a 21 yr old intoxicated female who went missing after she ran into a field in Langley. The female was located and taken to hospital with hypothermia.

4 Oct. 01 - 12 Surrey SAR members responded to assist the RCMP in the search for a 55-year-old male with several medical problems who was missing from a group home in the Surrey area. Search was stood down after RCMP located subject alive and well in the Crescent Beach area.

15 Sept. 01 - 52 SAR volunteers from Surrey, Coquitlam, Mission, Maple Ridge and Central Fraser Valley responded to RCMP request to locate a missing 14 year old female last seen in the Barnston Ferry Terminal area. Search stood down by RCMP as there was no indication that the missing female was still in the area.

15 Sept. 01 - 10 Surrey SAR, 10 Central Fraser Valley SAR & 3 Coquitlam SAR responded to locate a missing 54 year old diabetic male with a serious mental handicap. SAR members were stood down following report from RCMP that individual was found unharmed.

04 Sept. 01 - 9 Coquitlam and Surrey SAR members responded in 2 boats to search the Fraser River for a missing male. SAR members found no sign of the male.

31 Aug 01 - 10 Central Fraser Valley, 5 Ridge Meadows and 2 Surrey SAR members responded to a RCMP request for assistance following report of a 9 year old female missing in the Townline Road area of urban Abbotsford. Search was stood down after she was located, uninjured, at her father's residence.

14 Aug 01 - 17 Surrey SAR and 3 Central Fraser Valley SAR members responded following report of a 7 year old male missing from his residence in Surrey. Search was stood down when missing male returned safely to his residence while search was going on.

13 Aug 01 - 16 Surrey SAR members searched for a 10 year male, suffering from ADD, missing since 1630 hours from his residence. He was located uninjured and returned to his residence.

05 July 01 - 16 Surrey SAR were on standby following report of two children who went missing from their home. SAR assistance was not required as the children were located in New Westminster by RCMP.

02 July 01 - 16 Surrey SAR responded to RCMP request in locating a 93 yr old male who went missing in the Surrey area. SAR members located the male unconscious in a neighbours back yard. He was passed to BCAS for transport to hospital.

26 June 01 - 50 searchers from Surrey, Coquitlam and Central Fraser Valley Surrey SAR responded to search for a missing 79 year old male, reportedly suffering from Alzheimer's, who went missing from his residence. Apparently he was picked up by a passing motorist, who attempted to locate and transport male back to his home. When motorist could not locate the residence, he brought the missing male to the Surrey/Newton Police Station. He was later returned to his home and is all right.

23 June 01 - 8 Surrey SAR members responded to pier in 15900 block Marine Drive, White Rock following report of a missing 8 year old female. She was last seen on the pier at approximately 12:30 p.m. RCMP and citizens searched the area on foot but were unable to locate her. Search was stood down after RCMP reported she had been located alive and well at the opposite end of the beach a short time later.

23 Jun 01 - 5 Surrey SAR members responded to search the Boundary Park and Delta Watershed area following report of a missing 13 year old female. She reportedly walked away from her residence following a family dispute. She was located alive and well at a relative's house.

08 June 01 - 5 Surrey SAR members responded to rescue 2 victims after their boat overturned in the Fraser River near 134th Street. SAR team was stood down as individuals were rescued by Coast Guard Hovercraft.

01 June 01 - 16 Surrey, 7 Central Fraser Valley, 2 Maple Ridge, 2 North Shore, 2 Coquitlam, 1 Mission and CFV SAR responded to assist RCMP in searching for a male with Alzheimer's disease who went missing in the Port Kells area of Surrey. Subject was located in Surrey by a passerby. He was okay and taken home.

05 May 01 - 6 Surrey and 1 Central Fraser Valley SAR members were stood down while assembling to search for a missing autistic 6 year old male in the Green Timbers Forest Area in Surrey. He was located alive and well on a trail near his residence by RCMP using dog trackers.

29 April 01 - 7 Surrey SAR members responded to assist RCMP in rescuing a jumper off the Patello Bridge. Victim was located by crew on a tugboat, transported to shore and to hospital via BCAS. Condition of victim was unknown.

27 April 01 - SAR members from Surrey, CFV and Coquitlam responded to search for an 8 yr old missing in the Tynehead Park area if Surrey. Teams were stood down after RCMP located the 8 yr old.

21 April 01 - 27 Surrey and Central Fraser Valley SAR members were stood down while responding to search for a missing 6-year-old male in the Whalley area. RCMP located the male in good condition.

21 April 01 - 18 Surrey SAR members responded to a shoreline search for a missing kayaker last seen west of the pier in White Rock. Surrey SAR conducted an extensive shoreline search to no avail. RCMP Dive team was brought on scene but were unable to locate the kayaker.

14 April 01 - 21 Sunshine Coast, 2 Lions Bay, 8 North Shore and 1 Surrey SAR member assisted in the search for a missing elderly female in the Mountain Bike Park area near Gibsons. The overdue female went hiking and had not returned. SAR members located the subject alive, but exhausted at 18:00 on 15 Apr 01. She was transported to hospital by ambulance and is to be kept overnight for observation.

03 April 01- Surrey RCMP requested SAR team assistance in locating a missing 4 year old female in the 15000 block of 82nd Ave, Surrey. 4 members mustered to get the team's gear ready, but were stood down when the child was located in good condition.

31 March 01- 39 Maple Ridge, Coquitlam, Mission, Surrey and Central Fraser Valley SAR members responded to RCMP request to assist in the search for a male reported missing for about a week in the Mike Lake area of Golden Ears Park. Search is ongoing at this time.

17 March 01- 10 Coquitlam SAR and 3 Surrey SAR responded to conduct a shoreline search in vicinity of the Port Mann Bridge following report that a person had jumped off the bridge. Extensive search failed to locate any trace of missing person.

13 March 01 - 9 CFV and 4 Surrey SAR members assisted RCMP in a search for a 64 year old female who had gone missing from her home in Abbotsford at about 1530 hrs, 13 Mar 01. While search was in progress missing female made her way home on her own. On arrival home she was found to be soaked with water. Initial information indicated she had been pushed into a lake in area, however, details are still sketchy. She was wet and cold but otherwise okay.

11 March 01 - 6 Surrey SAR members responded to assist RCMP in search for a missing 11 year old female who had been missing since noon in the area of 138th St and 102nd Avenue, Surrey. RCMP located the female alive and well at a friend's house.

09 March 01 - 53 SAR members from Surrey, Ridge Meadows, Mission, Lions Bay, Central Fraser Valley, Coquitlam and Chilliwack responded to assist RCMP in the search for an 83 year old female in the urban Surrey area. Female was reported missing from her nursing home and was believed to be suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Search was stood down after the female was located sleeping within the nursing home.

23 Feb. 01 - 126 SAR members from Surrey, Central Fraser Valley, Lions Bay, Ridge Meadows, Hope, Chilliwack, Mission, Whistler, Coquitlam and Squamish responded to assist in the search for a missing 80 year old female, suffering from Alzheimer's who was last seen on 22 Feb. in the Sunnyside Acres area in Surrey. Searches during 23 and 24 Feb. failed to locate any sign(s) of the missing female. RCMP stood down the SAR team while they continue their investigation.

20 Feb. 01 - 76 SAR members from Surrey, Central Fraser Valley, Chilliwack, Coquitlam, Lions Bay, and Ridge Meadows assisted RCMP in searching for an 8 yr old boy with medical problems in the Port Kells area of Surrey. Male was located cold and wet and was taken to hospital by BCAS. .

16 Feb. 01 - 20 Surrey SAR members had gathered to assist in search for a 75 year old male suffering from Alzheimer's disease who had wandered away from his residence in Surrey. RCMP located the male before SAR members responded to area.

15 Feb. 01 - 23 Surrey and 5 Central Fraser Valley SAR members assisted in search for an apparent suicidal male who went missing on 13 Feb in the area of 46 Avenue and King George Highway, Surrey. Male's vehicle and suicide note were found in the area. A two square kilometer area was searched with no sign of missing male being found. RCMP stood down both SAR teams and will continue to investigate.
